Amoeba's What's In My Bag Series: Gary Numan

Aww yeah! Ok, so I'm a bit late to the party with this one, but better late than never I always say. You can imagine what a sweet surprise it was to see a Gary Numan edition of the What's In My Bag series by Amoeba.com. Not only is he one of my most favorite artists, he's also one of my favorite people, being a very genuinely sweet guy, humble and just a regular bloke. But what's even better than that, is Gary chooses some of my most favorite music (besides his) ever, and it's nearly every.single.pick he makes. I almost felt like I was being punk'd! Truly, every choice is choice. Have a look for yourself...

To hear him speak about Depeche Mode influencing HIM is amazing, as well as Marilyn Manson and Trent Reznor (NIN). But the sheer fact is, I don't believe any of those bands would even exist if it weren't for Gary Numan, I'm sure you will agree. There just simply isn't musch more to be said, he says it all quite perfectly. Ok, maybe he loses a point for choosing all CD's and no vinyl, but we can forgive him that. So if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go put a Gary Numan record on...

JustCoolRecords Year In Review and What Is Next for 2014

I hang my head in shame for the length of time that has passed since my last post. If any of my dear readers are still with me, I applaud you. The reasons for such a long, quiet spell are the subjects of this post, so let's get to it...

First off, I have to give my heartfelt thanks to any and all who have purchased from me during the past holiday season. You helped make it a "record breaking" year, with more vinyl going out the door than coming in.

This is what a normal day looked like during this past holiday season, with daily trips to the Post Office to help ensure people received their orders well in time for the holiday. Amazingly, there were no major disasters, which is really saying something considering the volume of orders I was so blessed to have. So thanks again vinyl lovers! I hope each and every one of you received your order in good time, and were well pleased with the record(s) you received.

On a personal note, I lost my Dad a few days before Christmas, which most certainly added to my lack of timely blogging. It was not much of a shock, as he had been ill for many years prior to his death, and has had a very difficult past six months, going in and out of the hospital. But he is at peace now and I am grateful for that. But just prior to his death, I found myself revisiting the music of my past that he had introduced me to, which was comforting and a pleasant way to remember him and some of the good times we had. It seems fair to say that vinyl lovers in particular really take music to their heart, I know I do. And because of that, it made me all the more thankful for the job I have created, and my continuing quest to bring music and people together.

So what is in store for me (and for you, my fellow vinyl junkies) in this new year of 2014? Well, I can say this much; once again, one of my resolutions is to BLOG MORE, and I know I've said it in the past but I'm really going to try to make a valiant effort to have some sort of consistency here. Now that I have acclimated (sort of) to the growth spurt my Etsy Shop has experienced, it will be easier to integrate a timely blog schedule into my daily routine. I'm shooting for at least once a week, so feel free to call me on it and chastise me if I fall behind!

Also, I have begun to branch out in my buying strategies by purchasing whole lots of records when I can, to have more available inventory for you to choose from. Along with that, I have also expanded the genres of music to include more Classic Rock, Psych, Jazz, Classical and more. Nothing wrong with expanding the audience, right?

So I hope you'll continue to join me on this musical journey, and hopefully purchase a record or two along the way. Happy New Year everyone, let's all be healthy, happy and prosperous in our endeavors...and keep spinning that vinyl!
